A year after it closed for the final phase of a major renovation, Clonard Church in west Belfast was reopened on Sunday March 25 to its dedicated congregation.
The century-old Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, attached to Clonard Monastery off Falls Road, closed last March to allow work on its interior to begin - the final stage in a long-running renovation project.
The final stage included the repainting of the ceiling, the cleaning and restoring of mosaics and the installation of new heating, sound, lighting, fire, alarm and ventilation systems.
Armatile waterjet cut intrigate designs into their porcelain tiles which were laid and running down the central isle of the church.
The reinstallation of the pews, show the beautiful new tiled floor, that has a heating system installed underneath it and rewiring was carried out to high-light the mosaics.
